I will start the whole story of my painting from the end.Renata Ledzińska
For reasons, I will explain later, I look for the art buyers who are very unusual, when you take into account the majority audience. I realize that those one I am looking for a rare kind, they are not too many. The one I am looking for are those who would like to have special, very personal relation with my work (my paintings). Would like to change something in their lives and there for the art will be alive forever, until I die or maybe even longer. The life of the art will end in the moment when you will not see anything new in the paintings. Painting will be living until the colours fade away or will be accidentally destroy etc.. Fade, fall under the mower, to a septic tank, etc. ..
The recipient (buyer of my work) have to be known to me (although such an experiment can be done that I do not know recipient of my work). This will be ideal for me to know a lot about the person I paint for. I need insights but nothing substantial, more of a spiritual nature, deep and invisible. It's about working on an image to which the recipient would have its part of the body, his/her situation, his/her story, something significant. That's all dressed itself in an oil painting. Large size of the paintings speak also to the unconscious. Colors, movements of brush, texture saying a lot .. about many important things in life for me ... of femininity, a tear, of humiliation, of wickedness, the pros and cons, the ecstasies and disappointments of a man, with raptures nature, and of disappointments nature (yet was not), with reflections on politics, generations, the role of the individual, on religion, wisdom, love, sex. All these topics or life situations I can tell to the client as those are the only one I would like to work on, this is the only possibility I can grow with my art work. So, I have two main principles:
1. I would not want my art be use for dehumanization of a person, sell human intimacy, used for pornographic purposes, etc.
2. I'd like my paintings to be a part of daily life, important part of life, every day routine rather than hanging on the wall only for decorative purpose(as it fits into the wall), or for reasons of investment (and forgotten, not viewed).
I love experiments so I guess, I found a solution. I paint the piece for the person to whom it relates. In this way it will be important to that person, or even in the future for her family. Will work, will be still alive, it will be part of particular human being. There will be no room for forgetting the painting as it will be important for that person. The art will start to be alive and start new, unpredictable live on its own and as an extra, in relation to the person who owns it. As you see, the investment part becomes minority thing under such circumstances. To paint a painting I will need a photo of topic I am about to work on for the client, I mean part of the body. The best way is if I will do the photo myself or I will need to have it done by somebody else who will do it exactly as I explain. The photo in the whole project is very important factor, I would say crucial. I need to talk to the client. A short insight will be important for my work, it actually allows me to work "properly". I paint exactly the person who is in the same time a client. I take into account her/his exact proportion and by colour, facture and movement of brush I explain the rest. Simple and fascinating! The best is the final effect as the client look at himself/herself, own situation... as he/she receive himself through the art.
